The Challenge
Every year, Chili's hosts a conference for all of their restaurant General Managers to recap the previous year's accomplishments and look forward to the plan for the new year. In 2023, Chili's had just finished a marketing campaign focused on showcasing their 1975 roots. They wanted to continue celebrating their past with a conference theme that embraced the 1970s vibes.
The Solution
To channel the Chili's of the 1970s, graphics from the recent heritage collection were used to create custom patch graphics that were overlaid on denim. The patches were animated throughout the conference to add to the fun energy. The 70s-inspired mascot, Joe ChiliHead, became the official spokesperson for the event. All of these elements were complimented by the use of original Chili's images from the archives.





A Wealth of Heritage
Chili's was founded in 1975 by Larry Lavine after being inspired by the Terlingua, Texas Chili Cookoff. The early days were about creating a fun, inviting atmosphere for guests to dine in on burgers and chili. Chili's rich history is filled with iconic memorabilia that was used to inspire the graphics used in the Living the ChiliHead Life conference theme.
Patch graphics were created that were inspired by the original Chili's logo, 1st restaurant sign, the iconic tile tables, and team member uniforms.
